The 2026 Guide to Managed Services Pricing

The three pricing models

MSPs typically choose between three structures:

  1. Per-device / per-endpoint — predictable, easy to quote, but misaligned with the value you deliver.
  2. Per-user / per-seat — aligns with how clients buy SaaS; easiest to scale.
  3. All-you-can-eat / fixed fee — highest margin when your tooling is strong, riskiest when it isn't.

Why AI changes the math

When AI agents absorb a large share of Tier 1 work, your cost per client drops sharply. That's the moment to revisit pricing — not to undercut, but to capture margin.

A common mistake is racing to the bottom on price after automation. The right move is to keep prices stable, reinvest the margin in better service, and let churn fall.

A simple framework

  • Baseline: cost of human hours replaced + 20%
  • Premium tiers: add AI services (vCISO, lead-gen, BI) as add-ons or bundles
  • Anchor: a high-priced tier that makes the middle look reasonable

Don't forget the deploy fee

For turnkey AI businesses (vCISO-as-a-Service, managed helpdesk), charge a one-time deployment fee of $1,500–$2,000. This covers provisioning and qualitatively separates serious buyers from tire-kickers.

Bundling wins

The most profitable MSPs we work with bundle: security + helpdesk + compliance as one price, then upsell AI business models on top. The bundle reduces churn because removing one piece devalues the whole.
